CAMERAS installed on and around the Manorway roundabout at the junction with the A13 will soon be switched on.

Thurrock Council and Essex Police are part of the Safer Essex Roads Partnership (SERP) which believes the cameras will help improve traffic flow and safety at the junction, which has gained a reputation for questionable driving and avoidable accidents.

A statement from the authority says: "The red light and speed enforcement cameras and have been installed to improve safety at the signalised junction.

"Their purpose is to detect the speed of vehicles exiting the Manorway and detect vehicles that cross the stop line when a red light is displayed on the signals.

"Essex Police and SERP are in the process of completing the 'back office' set up and the cameras will be commissioned within the next few weeks."
