THURROCK Mayor Cllr Terry Piccolo has paid tribute to the work of a young Thurrock girl and her brother who have shown great commitment to their local community.

Thurrock Nub News has followed the efforts of nine-year-old Polly Cornelius as she has successfully led a campaign with the help of her brother Toby to get Blackshots library reopened.

Today (Tuesday, 8 September) Cllr Piccolo turned up unexpectedly to present the dynamic duo with civic recognition for their efforts.

Their personalised citations read: "This certificate is awarded for the leading role in organising a petition with regards to the reopening of Blackshots Library."

Mum Claire said: "We are very proud of them and delighted that they have made a difference to the local community with their petitions."
