THURROCK Mayor Cllr Terry Piccolo paid tribute this evening to three stalwart members of the borough community who have recently passed away.

Cllr Piccollo opened tonight's meeting of the full council with eulogies to the lives of Albert England, Baldev Singh Gill and Eddy Coull.

And a minute's silence in tribute to them - and to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, followed.

Rev Darren Barlow announced to the meeting that the funeral of Mr England will take place on Friday, 5 February at Basildon Crematorium and, because of a limit of 30 people at the service due to Covid-19, it will be webcast.
