Memory walks will be major boost for dementia charity this weekend

By Neil Speight 21st Sep 2021

A MAJOR event will be taking place in Grays this weekend to raise funds and awareness in the battle against dementia.

Thurrock's 'Memory Walk' will take place at Blackshots Leisure Centre and there a number of options for those who want to take part.

There will be two organised walks, one of 8K and one of 3K.

The longer walk will start at 10am and will take in a route that includes Grays town centre, while the shorter route, which will see participants stepping out at 11.30am is around the King George's Field and Blackshots.

The event is being organised by Thurrock Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Society.

The main aim of Thurrock DAA is to meet the needs of those living with dementia and their carers, friends and families within Thurrock knowing they can live their lives with access to the services and support they need to fully participate in community life.

The Alliance has created a fundraiisng page, which can be accessed via this link.

Thurrock's Strollercise group will be there doing a pre-walk warmup.

If you would like to wear a Memory Walk T-shirt on the day, you can purchase them from the Alzheimer's Society online shop and they are available for adults and children.
