Men held by police following Chadwell St Mary incident

POLICE have given an update on the incident in Chadwell St Mary on Wednesday, when emergency services were deployed for several hours.

A statement says: "We were called to reports of a man the roof of a building in Longhouse Road area of Grays shortly after 10.50am on Wednesday, 31 July.

"A 33 year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and ABH and is currently in custody."

Earlier a statement from the East of England Ambulance Service read: "We were called at 12.53pm with reports of a person on the roof of a building in the Longhouse Road area

"We sent the Hazardous Area Response Team and two ambulances.

"One person was taken to hospital for further care."
