RESIDENTS and guests at a borough sheltered housing complex have raised around £250 for the Macmillan cancer charity.

They attended a spiritualism evening in the lounge at Freeman Court complex in Corringham which was organised by some of the residents.

Readings were presented by Jodie Ruskin.

There was a small charge for entry, a raffle and a donations box through which the money was raised.

One of those behind the event was Tina Woollard, who said: "Our thanks to Jodie for some insighthul messages. It was an evening enjoyed by all and we are so pleased to have made so much for Macmillan."
