Mixed fortunes in reporting as council misses one in four of its key targets

By Neil Speight 10th Jan 2020

THURROCK Council is missing more than one in four of its key performer indicator targets, members will be told next week.

However, the authority is putting an upbeat slant on the figures which show that 55 per cent of its services are performing better than last year.

In a report to the council's Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Tuesday (14 January) Director of Strategy, Communications & Customer Services Karen Wheeler will tell members that the council has fulfilled many of its objectives, with highlighted successes including the number of apprentices, general tenant satisfaction with neighbourhoods and services and the fact that the council has collected more than 98.5% of the bins in the borough on the scheduled collection day every month for a year.

However, on the downside the report focuses on a number of failed targets in education - and the fact that the authority is significantly below target in the number of fixed penalty fines it collects.

The council's commitment to waste recycling is also significantly below target.
