More Thames crossing investigations will mean traffic is delayed

MOTORISTS between Grays and Stanford-le-Hope using the old Stanfoprd Road (A1013) have had to suffer delays due to more investigative work being carried out by Highways England in association with the proposed route of the new Thames Crossing.

The disruptions are set to continue for the rest of the month at various points on the road, particularly between the Orsett Cock Roandabout and the point where the A1013 crosses the Tilbury Dock Approach Raod.

The agency says the works will involve digging on the verge of the road and the surveys will help them better understand ground conditions and the existing locations of underground utilities in relation to the proposed Lower Thames Crossing.

Traffic management will remain in place throughout this period, 24 hrs per day / 7 days per week, but working hours will be between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Stanford Road will be open at all times, but due to the lane closure, road users may be asked to wait a short time at temporary traffic lights.
