Motorists and villagers warned of latest A13 road closure

By Neil Speight 8th May 2020

AFTER several weeks without the imposition of a closure, Thurrock motorists are being advised that next weekend, starting on Friday, 15 May, there will be a closure of the A13 stretching over four days.

As part of the road-widening of the stretch of the A13 between Orsett Cock and the Manorway the A13 will be closed in both directions at the A128 (Orsett Cock roundabout) next weekend, from 9pm on Friday, 15 May until 5am on Monday, 18 May.

During this time, traffic will be diverted via the slip roads and roundabout – an 'up and over' diversion.

The road closure is for various preparation works to take place, in readiness for the installation of two new bridges at Orsett, which will take place later on in May and early June.

In order to minimise the impact of this closure on surrounding towns and villages, the previously-used village protection measures will be implemented by Thurrock. These include: The introduction of a one-way system through Horndon village, with Gordon Road operating northbound only, Victoria Road operating southbound only, and the closure of the 'hole in wall' at the Orsett Road/High Road junction. In addition, Buckingham Hill Road will be closed between Stanford Road and The Tip to enable Stanford Road to flow freely.
