EAST Thurrock MP James McMurdock has praised pupils and staff of Arthur Bugler Primary School in Stanford-le-Hope following a special visit as part of UK Parliament Week.
Mr McMurdock visited the school to speak to pupils about his role as a Member of Parliament, helping to inspire the next generation to take an interest in politics and public service.
He said: "It was a real pleasure to visit Arthur Bugler Primary School and to speak with pupils about my role as an MP. Teaching young people about politics is vital, and UK Parliament Week is a great opportunity to help them understand how their voices can shape our democracy."
During the visit, Mr McMurdock addressed the assembly, explaining how Parliament works and the responsibilities that MPs hold. Pupils also had the chance to ask questions about his role, and learn more about how decisions are made in Westminster.
He added: "The pupils asked thoughtful, engaging questions, and it was heartening to see how curious they were about Parliament and the democratic process. I was particularly keen to encourage them that anyone can aspire to become an MP.
"The enthusiasm and confidence shown were a real credit to the school."
