FOR the second time this month firefighters tackled a blaze at a rural site north of South Ockendon.

On 17 June several crews fought a blaze at a site on Dennises Lane and yesterday afternoon (Saturday, 26 June) they returned to the area after reports of multiple vehicles alight.

On arrival firefighters reported that three lorries, one van, one car and a caravan were involved in the fire.

Firefighters worked hard in difficult conditions to bring the fire under control and protect surrounding risks, extinguishing the fire by 6.50pm.

Officers will carry out an investigation into the cause of the fire as soon as it is possible.
