ORSETT & Thurrock Cricket Club became the first club in Thurrock to use a brand new £28k facility at Orsett Heath Academy last week after it was installed at the end of October by Durrants Cricket.

The new four lane facility was made possible by a £15k grant from the Sport England's 'Small Grants Fund' and the remaining funding was supplied by the South West Essex Community Educational Trust (SWECET) who run Orsett Heath Academy.

Orsett & Thurrock Cricket Club, together with Stanford Cricket Club, Horndon on the Hill Cricket Club and Belhus Cricket Club have expressed thanks to Sport England and SWECET for their support. All clubs expect to maximise the use of this facility over the winter months as they engage in indoor leagues and prepare for the summer in 2025.

The facility is available to hire by all local cricket clubs and any interested clubs should contact SWECET directly to book sessions.

If you would like to take up cricket as a sport Orsett & Thurrock Cricket Club welcome all age groups, genders and abilities so please get in touch at https://www.orsettandthurrock.com/
