New store plan in Tilbury - residents invited to have their say ahead of planning application

RESIDENTS in Tilbury are being consulted by supermarket chain Lidl about its plans to build a new store on the outskirts of town.

Lidl say though the site, which would have a main access from St Chad's Road, is in the green belt it has significant benefits for local residents and will create up to 40 new jobs.

The site is currently occupied by Bumbles Yard Horse Stables.

The new store would have 127 parking spaces enhanced environmental features, and landscaping. Environmental features include solar (photovoltaic) panels on the roof while landscaping features include tree-planting and soft landscaping.

Lidl is taking note of residents' comments, has leafleted them and has opened a survey portal where people can leave their comments. It can be accessed via this link.

A planning application has not yet been submitted to Thurrock Council.

On the opposite side of St Chad's Road, work has just got underway to create a new community football stadium, a home for Tilbury FC which is due to be opened for the 2024/2025 football season.
