Nick brings the sights of spring to you from the shores of the Thames

By Neil Speight 16th May 2020

EAST Tilbury-based wildlife photographer Nick Lay has once again been out and about in the local countryside, bringing a sense of spring to those who cannot leave their homes.

Thurrock Nub News is delighted to share some of Nick's pictures and link to his website where you can enjoy more pictures.

Nick says: "I have just enjoyed a fantastic day photographing the abundance of wildlife that we have in the area.

"This time of year is absolutely buzzing with birdsong through the public footpath leading up to the Thames seawall and the reed bed that runs along side it.

"If you're out walking, just stop for a few minutes and listen. It's good for the soul and its so relaxing to listen to.

"But please take your rubbish home and especially more so think twice about lighting a barbecue up along the seawall.

"We need to look after these areas the reed beds are very important for migrating birds.

"We have around five different species of bird that use the reeds to build their nest and bring up their young.

"This year we have two grasshopper warblers which are rare for this area so it just goes to show just how important the habitat is for wildlife."
