Number of Covid-19 cases in borough hits 300

THE number of people officially recorded as having Covid-19 in Thurrock has risen to 300.

The figure was released today (Monday, 11 May) in the latest update from Public Health England, on a day when the national number of infections rose by 3,877 to 223,060.

In Thurrock the latest available figure relating to deaths remains 51, though it is certain that number will have been surpassed and some reports have set the figure at 56.

The number of deaths recorded at Basildon Hospital is 254.
