ORTU Corringham Primary School and Nursery held their first open day event and welcomed children and their families to show what fun can be had at the nursery.
Special guest – The Gruffalo - arrived to say hello and play with the children on Saturday, 26 February.
Nursery staff were on hand for outdoor adventures, messy play and supervise indoor soft play.
To celebrate the special guest, cakes were decorated in the Gruffalo style and children also had their face painted to make sure it was a day to remember! Corringham Nursery offers sessions from 8.30am until 12midday and 1pm until 3pm Monday to Friday, with extra pre-bookable sessions for Breakfast and After School club between 7am and 6pm. Acting Headteacher, Karina Garrick said: "I'm so very proud of the exceptional service we offer the families at Corringham Nursery. You couldn't have kept me away today! "I'm a strong believer of child-led learning – treating each child as an individual and focusing on needs rather than lesson plans. My staff team here are fantastic advocates for the small humans we enjoy the company of during the day. I'm thrilled the day got to showcase that." The Ortu Federation is also out to consultation for a new nursery in the Stanford area which could offer placements for babies until school age.
