Off-duty bobby bravely nabs crook in Corringham

By Nub News Reporter   12th Nov 2025

A 36-year-old man from the Southend area has been arrested, charged, and remanded following a suspected burglary in Corringham — thanks to the quick-thinking actions of an off-duty Police officer who bravely intervened and detained the suspect.

Following his arrest on Sunday 9 November, the man was charged and remanded for the following offences:

  • 2x Burglary
  • Assault
  • Criminal Damage
  • Going Equipped to Steal

Thurrock Police inspector Dan Selby said: "This arrest is a powerful reminder of the dedication and courage shown by our officers — both on and off duty — to keep our communities safe.

"We're proud of the teamwork and vigilance that led to this result, and we thank the public for their continued support.

"If you see something suspicious, please report it. Together, we're stronger."
