THURROCK Council has decided to close the Thameside Theatre becasue of the coronavirus situation, meaning that the scheduled performance of Oliver by TOPS (Thurrock Operatic Society) which was due to start tomorrow (Wedneday, 18 March) has been postponed.

A statement from the group said: "We have just heard from the theatre that they are closing, therefore our show will not go ahead with any of the performances.

"TOPS are devastated by this news, after everyone's hard work leading up to this week but on the positive, we have been able to reschedule Oliver! for October 7th-11th."
