Open fun day will help get sporting hopefuls on their way to global competition

By Nub News Reporter   19th Jul 2025

A FUN day for all the family, with the ultimate aim of helping sportspeople from Thurrock compete at the highest level will take place on Sunday (20 July).

Grans Jean Hall on Nutberry Fields, Long Lane, Stofford Clays, Grays, will play host to an open day organised by Mark Adams of Yamaguchi Goju Kai karate.

Mark's intention is to raise funds to send a squad of extremely talented athletes from Grays and South Ockendon to the Karate Global Championships to represent England in Japan next month.

The open day will be showcasing the Karate club as well as all the other clubs that run at the hall.

There will also be stalls from local traders as well as a BBQ, cakes, refreshments with a tombola and raffle and not forgetting the DJ.
