THURROCK's mayor and local ward councillor Terry Piccolo has registered his immediate opposition to new plans to develop a Stanford-le-Hope town centre site.

Yesterday (Friday, 7 January) Thurrock NubNews exclusively reported on a new application to develop the Sandpits car park in the town. (Click on red button below).

Today Cllr Piccolo repeated opposition to the scheme and said on behalf of fellow councillors: " "We continue to maintain our view that any new development on the Sandpits Car Park in the heart of Stanford must have the 103 free short-stay parking spaces.

"Our view hasn't changed, the developer should follow the spirit of the original sale which said a new development should maintain the 103 free parking our town centre needs to stay viable."
