RE-ENGAGE Thurrock tea party groups all joined together to celebrate summer with a lunch at Ye Olde Plough House in Bulphan organised by volunteer Paula.

Regional co-ordinator Loraine Coleman said: "We had the most amazing, memorable, happy afternoon. We welcomed some very special guests from Tesco, Co-op, Asda, The Rotary Club of Mardyke Valley and Neil Speight from Thurrock Nub News who have all very generously supported Thurrock Re-engage so we can continue our tea parties and have lovely events like this one.

"A very big thank you to all.

"And to our very talented Grays Town Band who so very generously volunteered their time to entertain us

"So much hard work went into making this fabulous event a success. Thank you Paula.

"We celebrated 4 birthdays.

"A Very big thank you to all our fabulous volunteers for driving our guests and taking such special care of them. Without our wonderful volunteers these special events could not take place

"Thurrock Re-engage is a very special group of tea party guests and volunteers who over the years have made amazing lifetime friendships. On days like this many precious memories are made."

Re-engage Thurrock organises free monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties and other events for people aged 75 and above, who live on their own, without nearby friends and family. Guests are picked up by volunteer drivers and spend afternoons of fun and laughter.
