AFTER a successful start to this month's litter picking with a productive pick in Grays, the Grays Beachcombers are looking forward to their next event this weekend.

After the pick which was in the area around Grays Beach, co-ordinator Steve Catchpole said: "It was great seeing the Lightship cafe kiosk back in business after the event. Thank you John, Anita and the team for the refreshments. Also to Thurrock Council for once again so promptly picking up the rubbish after the event.

"Our next event is on Saturday, 15 May at the Concrete Barges in Rainham from 10.30am until 1.30pm. I have wandered down there and there are plenty of smaller micro pieces that need sweeping and shovelling up from the pathway, as well as the larger pieces on the reed beds.

"If you have your own wellies, picker, hoop, broom or shovel, please bring as we will not have the support vehicle for this event. If not, all equipment you need will be supplied. Just wear old weather appropriate clothing and bring a thick pair of socks.

"Please let me know by email ([email protected]) if you want to attend any of the below events."
