Updated: Police car crashes in Grays: Extensive damage as wall and shed are hit.

A POLICE car crashed into a shed at the side of a house in Grays this evening (Thursday, 18 June) causing extensive damage.

The incident happened on Chadwell Road, close to the junction with Malvern Road at around 6.45pm.

Local residents have reported that the police car was travelling at speed before it left the road, demolished a wall and ended up smashing into a shed and the house.

Emergency services, including firefighters and the ambulance service attended the scene.

Police have issued a brief statement which says: "Two cars, including a police car, were in collision in Malvern Road, Grays, at around 6.10pm on Thursday, 18 June. The police car was responding to a call under emergency conditions at the time. The collision also resulted in the police car colliding with a building.

"No injuries were reported. The matter is being investigated.
