Police class Ockendon pub fire as arson and seek witnesses

A FIRE that destroyed a Thurrock pub is now being treated as arson.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the blaze they now believe was started deliberately in South Ockendon.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at the Jack O' Lantern pub in Daiglen Drive on 20 September.

It destroyed the roof of the pub and caused extensive damage to the main building and a sea food stall next to to pub was burnt out.

Police are now treating the fire as arson.

A statement from the police says: "If you have any information please call us on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/151350/20 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
