THURROCK Police have used social media to highlight a busy weekend of activity in the borough.

Yesterday (Sunday, 20 February) officers conducted operations across the district in relation to nuisance and stolen motorbikes.

A statement from police says: "They made arrests, recovered a number of stolen vehicles, issued several tickets, community protection warnings, community resolutions & section 59 warnings.

"Incidents included a motorbike with no number plate failing to stop for officers. With a number of different tactics in place for the operations the rider ended up decamping the bike and ran across fields.

"Our motorbike units pursued and caught him in the middle of a football pitch in play."

On Saturday the division's from town centre team had a busy evening and some of the incidents have been highlighted.

The force says: "PCs MacKinnon and McClean conducted high visibility foot patrols within the Tilbury area focusing on the areas residents highlighted to us.

"Whilst PC Butcher and PC McCarthy successfully located a stolen vehicle from the area on on the A13. With help from the Metropolitan Police the vehicle was stopped and two persons were detained.

"This follows another stolen vehicle from Aveley being located earlier. Both have now been recovered and will be returned to happy owners once our investigation has been completed."
