Police in plea for witnesses after man was assaulted following verbal clash

POLICE are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed a serious assault in West Thurrock earlier this month to make contact and assist with enquiries.
A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called to Weston Avenue in West Thurrock, outside the Ibis Hotel on Friday, 16 December following reports of a man being seriously assaulted.
"The victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a man before he was assaulted. He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
"A 23-year-old man from Romford has been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm. He has since been released with bail conditions whilst enquiries continue.
"At the time of the assault, the hotel and the street were busy and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or have any further information to contact us.
