POLICE officers were involved in an incident at the junction of Buckles Lane and South Road, South Ockendon around 6pm this evening (Thursday, 18 August).

A number of police vehicles and officers were involved, sparking comment on local social media about what happened. Nub News can confirm a man was arrested and has subsequently been taken to hospital having been taken ill. Contrary to some comments on social media, no-one has died in connection with the incident.

Reports suggest a man was threatening motorists and when police were alerted and arrived at the scene, that sparked a confrontation.

Nub News has contacted the force and updates will follow when a formal response is received.
