Police operation nets two vehicles and two drink drivers
POLICE seized two cars during an operation in Thurrock.
On Friday 19 January, Thurrock Community Policing Team conducted 'Operation Irish-Lions' patrols, aimed at tackling anti-social driving in and around the Lakeside area.
Officers spotted two vehicles speeding and racing one another. They were also seen going through red lights.
Both drivers were reported for the offence of careless driving and were issued Section 59 warnings and their vehicles were both seized.
While the officers were getting the vehicles recovered, another vehicle almost crashed into the marked police car.
A sample of breath for a roadside breath-test was requested from the driver of that vehicle, but he refused and was subsequently arrested for failing to provide a sample.
In addition to this, officers located a drink driver at Lakeside. The driver was arrested and decided to refuse a specimen of breath in police custody.
