Police operation results in weapon-carrying teenagers being arrested

INCREASED police activity across the borough in a an operation co-ordinated by Thurrock's Neighbourhood Policing Team resulted in nine arrests - with charges already laid and court appearances scheduled.
A statement from Essex Police says: "On Friday (17 October) officers were out in force across Thurrock as part of a Visibility and Targeted Operation.
- "We're listening to our community, and we know your top concerns are:
- - Youth-related drug activity
- - Serious violence
- - Nuisance vehicles
"We understand that our community wants to see action taken against those who make life difficult for law-abiding residents in Thurrock. By publicising our efforts, we aim to show that we are listening to what matters most and are focused on delivering results.
"We want you to be informed about what we're doing locally and reassured that your concerns are being addressed."
Police say the operation resulted in:
- 1 Section 59 issued to a Driver in Lakeside/West Thurrock.
- 9 arrests – including 3 for Possession with intent to supply drugs offences and 5 wanted individuals.
- 11 stop searches conducted.
- 2 vehicles seized (no insurance/license).
- 1 stolen vehicle recovered.
- 2 Traffic Offence Reports for No Insurance/ Nuisance Vehicle related.
- £1,680 cash seized from suspected dealers.
Officers also dealt with antisocial behaviour at Lakeside shopping centre and reports of teenage males carrying weapons.
The statement continues: "As a result of this operation and further investigative work by our Criminal Investigation Department, multiple charges and remands were secured:
1 Adult Female – Charged and remanded for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
1 Adult Male – Charged with criminal damage and remanded to court.
1 Adult Male – Charged with 7 theft offences, possession of cannabis, and arrested for two outstanding fail-to-appear warrants.
1 Adult Male – Charged with theft from a motor vehicle at Lakeside Shopping Centre.
Additionally, three individuals were released on bail for possession with intent to supply drugs, pending further investigation by the Officer in Charge.
CID also secured charges against the following offender:
1 Adult Male – Charged with affray, threatening a person with an offensive weapon/bladed article/corrosive substance in a private place, and two counts of assault against an emergency worker.
1 Adult Male – Bailed for weapons offences, with further enquiries ongoing.
