Police outrun by woodland rriders but they recover haul of helmets, toolkits and a dodgy phone

By Nub News Reporter 2nd Apr 2025

AVELEY'S neighbourhood policing team were outrun by riders of two scrambler bikes and a quadbike in woods adjacent to Purfleet Road on Monday (31 March) but they did manage to come up with a haul of items left behind.

Among things recovered by officers were several tool kits, two full jerry cans of petrol, three helmets, a pair of bike gloves, a hoodie, and a rucksack containing a mobile phone and a container of cannabis.

All items were taken to Grays Police Station where, on checking the mobile phone, officers discovered it might have been used for some less-than-legal activities, so it's been seized and now sits in custody.

However, other items can be returned and if you recognise any of the items and would like to claim them, officers invite you to call in at Grays Police Station...
