Police praise for residents who celebrated community spirit in a safe way

By Neil Speight 11th Apr 2020

IN contrast with some neighbourhoods across the UK where there has been criticism of local police for being 'over-enthusiastic' of the application of social distancing guidelines, there was a warm welcome for Essex cops in Stanford-le-Hope today (Saturday, 11 April).

Popular community team PCSO JoJo Mitchell was among the officers on patrol visiting areas of the town and highlighted the way residents at Stanford park were celebrating Easter.

She took to social media to say said: "It was good to see you guys. Well done on keeping a good community spirit in such a safe and common sense way."

And there was an equally enthusiastic welcome from the police by estate resident Mick Thomspon who said:"Was lovely seeing you making sure neighbours and family were abiding by the rules."
