Police probe hammer attack near Stanford-le-Hope station

POLICE are seeking information about an incident close to Stanford-le-Hope rail station that left a man with injuries that required hospital treatment.

It has been reported he was attacked with a hammer.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called just before 6.30pm on Tuesday, 1 September following reports of an affray between two men in London Road, Stanford-le-Hope.

"When officers arrived a man in his 20s was located. He was taken to hospital with a head injury.

"It was reported a man got out of a car and assaulted the man in his 20s.

"If anyone was in the area or has CCTV footage of what happened please call Grays CID on 101 quoting crime reference 42/138765/20 or you can report it online here.

The family of the assaulted man has made a plea on social media to find and thank an off-duty paramedic who helped at the scene and also passers by who assisted in calling the emergency services.
