THURROCK Police have responded to local intelligence and alerted the public to possible disorder at the Lakeside shopping complex this evening (Friday, 3 October).
A statement just issued (6.50pm) says: "Our Neighbourhood Policing Team are aware of a planned fight involving schoolchildren reported to be taking place in the area of Lakeside Shopping Centre this evening.
"Our officers will be in the area and will use all their appropriate and proportionate powers to disperse anyone they suspect of planning this kind of anti-social behaviour.
"We're also in close contact with Lakeside security staff and schools whose students may be involved."
Inspector Dan Selby said: "I'm asking all parents and guardians to take a moment to check in with your children this evening - to ensure they're safe, respectful, and not involved in anti-social behaviour.
"This behaviour is unacceptable anywhere, and we are prepared to take swift action where we see ASB or criminality."
Earlier week police issued a dispersal order ahead of expected anti-social behaviour by young people in East Tilbury.
