POLICE seeking a man in connection with an assault have released a CCTV picture of a person they wish to speak to.

A statement from Essex Police says: "Do you recognise this man? We need to speak to him in connection with a serious assault in Grays.

"The victim, a man in his 40s, was assaulted by another man outside Ab Salute gym in Motherwell Way, Grays, shortly after 12.55pm on Wednesday, 28 April.

"The victim was punched in the face causing him an injury to his eye which will now require surgery. It was reported the incident followed a confrontation inside the gym a short time earlier.

"The other man has been described to us as Asian, having a moustache, being aged in his mid-20s, 5ft 10ins tall, with black hair and wearing a black t-shirt, and grey tracksuit trousers.

"We appreciate that this CCTV image is not the best quality, but we hope it may help someone recognise him.

"We need anyone who saw what happened or has CCTV or dash cam footage to contact us."

If you have any information you can submit a report online via this link where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm. Quote the crime reference number: 42/79056/21
