A DAY of action by Thurrock Police resulted in the arrest of four people after officers executed a series of warrants across the borough.
A man in South Ockendon and a woman from Tilbury were detained for failing to appear at court; a man in Purfleet was arrested for breaching court bail in relation to a sexual offence, and a wanted juvenile was arrested in Tilbury on suspicion of car theft after a sharp-eyed officer spotted him on the streets.
Officers from Thurrock neighbourhood and local policing teams, and the Domestic Abuse Problem Solving Team (DAPST) worked together to hunt down the individuals.
Police report that crime in Thurrock district is down by 9% in the past three years and anti-social behaviour has fallen by 34% in the same period.
Sergeant Rob Mackenzie led the operation and said apprehending wanted people was key to keeping communities safe and preventing reoffending, adding: "If there's a warrant out for your arrest, the next knock at the door you get could be from one of our officers.
"You can try to escape justice, but your name will be on our list and we will get you back in front of a court.
"The individuals we target are frequently linked to serious offences and if they are not stopped, they could continue to offend.
"Breaching bail or skipping court simply will not be tolerated and anyone who attempts to do so will be tracked down and dealt with."
