MORE than 200 homes in the East Tilbury area were left without power this afternoon as Storm Ciara continues to impact on the region.

UK Power Network reported 217 homes had been affected after the storm caused damage to high voltage overhead cables.

A statement from the agency said: "Storm Ciara has caused extensive damage to the power network.

"Please be assured that we are completing repairs as quickly as possible and supporting customers in vulnerable circumstances."

Some residents have reported that they have been advised power may not be restored until tomorrow afternoon.
