THURROCK Yacht Club recently played host to year two pupils from Thameside Primary School.

The children were able to see river traffic moving up and down the Thames from the club house. Club members explained about their boats and the history of the river, as well as the importance of staying safe on the water.

Bev Allinson, Key Stage 1 lead at Thameside Primary School said: "Year Two had a great time visiting Thurrock Yacht Club and learned a lot about the River Thames and sailing.

"The visit was a valuable starting point for literacy, history and geography projects this half term. Many thanks to Bernie, Dave and Tony for answering the children's questions. "
