A BEACON is to be erected in Bulphan to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The village's Community Forum have successfully applied for planning permission to have the beacon erected on the village's recreation field.

The jubilee is due to be celebrated on 2 June 2022 when it is planned that more than 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories.

The residents of Bulphan will now get the chance to pay their tribute by lighting one. Details of the planned nationwide celebrations can be found here

The proposed development would involve the erection of a beacon that would take the form of a metal cradle having a maximum diameter of 1.4 metres and a height of 1.23 metres sitting atop a 6.2 metre tall wooden post.
