THE boss of GBR Anglia, which runs the c2c rail service that serves Thurrock has recorded a brief film apologising for the continued closure of Dagenham Dock, Rainham and Purfleet stations and wider disruption to services while track repairs continue following a derailment.

Rob Mullen is the chief customer and commercial director of the rail service and he has explained the complexity of the repairs, which means that normal service will not resume until at least the week beginning Monday, 9 November.

He says: "This remains a complex recovery operation due to the extensive damage caused to signalling equipment, cabling and around 1.2km of track. Much of the infrastructure cannot simply be repaired and must be completely rebuilt.

"This is a major undertaking, and our teams need the time to carry out the work safely and properly.

"We are asking customers travelling from Dagenham Dock, Rainham, Purfleet and Grays not to travel. Customers travelling elsewhere on the route are encouraged to check their journey before travelling."
