MEMBERS of Horndon on the Hill Royal British Legion Branch celebrated their 75th anniversary yesterday (Saturday, 30 September).

The branch was first established in 1948 and has supported armed service personnel since then.

Yesterday's service saw a wreath-laying at the village war memorial close to St Peter and St Paul's Church, which was unveiled on Sunday, 5 December 1920 by Lt Colonel Frank Hilder MP, Essex Royal Horse Artillery and was restored to its original condition in 2014 thanks to support from local funeral director LE Brand.

Following the wreath-laying members enjoyed a buffet lunch at Horndon Methodist Church.
