RBL seeking secretary to help carry on good work

AN urgent call has been made for a volunteer to step forward and help the work of an ex-forces organisation.
Grays Thurrock Branch of The Royal British Legion is looking to recruit a new secretary in a year which includes major commemorations.
Its chairman, Rod Oakley, has outlined the requirements and urgent nature of the appeal, saying: "If you wish the RBL in Grays to have an input into VE Day, VJ Day and Remembrance for the 80th Commemoration this year, it is imperative that we recruit a Secretary. There is a danger that the Branch will fold without one."
Details of the role:
You will become one of the three Branch Officers required for the Branch to continue.
This is a volunteer role. Expenses can be paid to cover out of pocket expenses when on duty.
A full job specification is available on request but the candidate must possess the following qualities.
Be a fully paid up member of the RBL (Currently £20) rising by £2 over the next 4 years to £28.
You need to be familiar with working with computers. (Word processing, email etc)
You do not need to be an armed forces Veteran but need to uphold the aims of the RBL.
You will be required to attend our monthly meeting which is held on the second Thursday of each month.
This is held at 7pm in the RAFA Club in Southend Road, Grays. The meeting is upstairs and a cash bar is available.
You will take minutes of the meeting and produce them in Word format. These will then be emailed to the Members.
There is a requirement to deputise for the Chairman when absent on Duty or Leave.
Attend and complete our annual documentation at the AGM held in November. (MS1)
Act as a participating member of the committee with regard to organising the Annual Remembrance Service at Grays Memorial in November. (Sunday nearest the 11th)
Assist with raising funds for the Poppy Appeal in November and year round.
Assist with raising money to support our Branch Funds.
Deal with correspondence for the branch in paper and electronic format.
Assist with identifying welfare cases in the Thurrock Area to our Welfare Officer (BCS)
Full training will be given and a 2 day course can be attended but is not essential.
