By Nub News Reporter 6th Dec 2024
THURROCK Re-engage group volunteers raised more than £1,000 for the charity that helps local lonely and vulnerable people with a Christmas market this week at Headon Hall in Stifford Clays.
Organiser and volunteer group coordinator Maggie Whitlock said: "What a fabulous time everyone had at our Christmas charity craft fayre. We had Santa in his grotto with his elves and lots of lovely Christmas stalls.
"I cannot thank everyone involved enough for their contribution to this event....the Santas and their elves, the volunteers who helped on the day, the cake makers, and everyone who was involved in making this a very special day.
"Also to everyone who donated to our tombola and drinks tombola, it was an enormous success.
"Our final figure that we raised on the day was £1,290.00.
"A big thank you from all of our guests as they will have lots of tea parties to look forward to in the new year."
Regional co-ordinator Loraine Coleman added her thanks, saying: "Thank you so much Maggie for the many months of hard work organising this wonderful event.
"Thank you to all the volunteers and tea party guests who helped on the day. Thank you to our fabulous Father Christmases and two lovely elves. Thank you to all the many friends who donated gifts for our stalls.
"And a BIG thank you to our very generous local community for helping us raise so much to support Re-engage Thurrock. A very Happy Christmas to you all."
