Riverside councillor's welcome for parking purge

A TILBURY Riverside councillor has welcomed tougher enforcement action by Thurrock Council following ongoing concerns from residents about vehicle parking and storage linked to a local garage on Lansdowne Road.
Reform councillor Harley Pyman-Brickwood has been at the forefront of bringing the issue to the attention of officers and says he is pleased to see the wishes of local people have been met.
Council enforcement teams and Essex Police have been liaising on the problem and over recent days 68 parking tickets have been issued, with numerous targeted patrols and investigations carried out.
On Thursday (8 October), the council formally issued a Community Protection Warning to a business owner who has been central to causing the problems by parking vehicles across the neighbourhood - many of them untaxed and without MOTs.
The council says enhanced monitoring will continue, with further multi-agency enforcement action possible if problems persist.
Cllr Pyman-Brickwood said: "Residents deserve to live in a street that is safe, accessible, and free from disruption. I'm pleased that their concerns have been taken seriously and that firm action is now being taken.
"I want to thank residents for their patience and council officers and Essex Police for their hard work. I will continue pushing for a lasting solution, not just a temporary improvement."
