Roadshow returns to help local folk get through winter
By Nub News Reporter 23rd Oct 2026
RESIDENTS accessed advice, support and health services as the Thurrock Cares Warm Up For Winter roadshow took place at the Civic Hall in Grays yesterday (Thursday, 22 October).
The event brought together Thurrock Council, NHS partners, voluntary sector organisations and micro-enterprises, providing a one-stop shop for residents looking for support during the winter months.
Visitors were able to speak directly with organisations about financial assistance, benefits, food support, energy advice, support for older people and carers, community activities and winter wellbeing.
A range of health services were on offer, including winter vaccinations, while residents also had the opportunity to take part in activities such as seated yoga and find out more about staying active and connected during the colder months.

The roadshows are part of the Thurrock Cares campaign, which helps residents access practical support, advice and local services throughout the year.
Since launching in 2024, Thurrock Cares and roadshows have helped thousands of residents access support with the cost of living and find practical help within their local community.
The campaign continues to provide advice and support online, while the roadshows offer residents the chance to speak face-to-face with organisations that can help.
The next Thurrock Cares Warm Up For Winterroadshow will take place on:
Residents are encouraged to drop in and speak with organisations that can help with:
- Financial support and benefits
- Food and household essentials
- Energy and heating advice
- Support for older people and carers

- Warm spaces and staying connected in the community
Council leader Cllr Richard Bingley said: "It was great to see residents and local organisations come together at the first Thurrock Cares roadshow in Grays.
"These events are all about making support easy to access. Whether someone is worried about the rising cost-of-living, wanting to find activities in their community or seeking health support ahead of winter, the roadshows bring a range of services together in one place.
"I would encourage anyone who thinks they may benefit from support this winter to come along to the next event in West Thurrock and speak to the teams on hand."
