Rotary hosts three challenges for borough's young people

THE creative vision and skills of young people in Thurrock are being given the chance to shine in competitions organised by the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock.

Borough youngsters can take part in three events: Young Musician of the year, Young Filmmaker of the Year and Young Photographer of the Year.

The Young Musician competition is open to those up to the age of 17 on 31st August 2023. Students attending schools and community organisations in the Borough of Thurrock, or who live in the borough of Thurrock, through their family or respective group by completing the entry form (with full rules and terms and conditions) that can be downloaded via this link.

It is not open to full time students of music or performing arts, studying for a qualification above A Level or equivalent. There are two categories in the competition:

  • Solo instrumental
  • Solo vocal Competition

Gateway Academy at Marshfoot Road, Tilbury, RM16 4LU will play host to the event on Saturday, 2 December.

The Young Photographer competition is open to all Thurrock schools and colleges and those home-educated, along with community organisations (e.g. Scout Groups, Girl Guides, Sea and Air Cadets, etc) and other young people living in the borough and features three age groups:

  • Junior: Up to and including 10 years old Intermediate
  • 11 to 13 years old Senior
  • 14 to 17 years old

Entrants must not be over the upper age parameter for each group on 31 August 2023.

The Filmmaker competition is based on the theme of 'Rebuilding' and is also open to all schools and college communities across Thurrock and those who are home educated, along with any other young peoples' community organisations, (for example, Scout Groups, Girl Guides, Sea Cadets, etc. Parent/guardians may also enter their son/daughter into this competition.
