A THURROCK-based hairstylist and therapist is challenged for a double success in a national competition.

Last year Sara-Louise Downey, who has lived in Thurrock all her life, gained national recognition for her hairdressing skills when she was crowned Mobile Hairstylist of the Year at the UK Hair and Beauty awards.

This year she has once again reached a final again and is anxiously awaiting a gala presentation evening in August to see if she has repeated her success.

The Awards, renowned for celebrating excellence and creativity in the hair and beauty industry, acknowledge Sara-Louise's exceptional skills and dedication and her continued  recognition serves as a testament to her commitment to providing outstanding hair services while working independently as a mobile hairdresser.

Former Aveley Primary school student Sara-Louise, who continued her education at Aveley Secondary School on Belhus Park Lane and then studied hairdressing at the former Thurrock Technical college in Grays, has clients across the whole of the borough, operating from her home in Aveley, where she has lived since she was eight.

Sara-Louise augmented her education by working as a Saturday girl in a salon in South  before branching out with her own business, Sara's Hair Therapy.

After 14 years in her chosen profession she says: "I am incredibly honoured and thrilled to be recognized as a finalist at the exclusive UK Hair and Beauty Awards, this acknowledgement is a testament to the hard work and dedication I put into my craft.

"I am committed to providing exceptional hair services and creating unforgettable experiences for my clients."

The UK Hair and Beauty Awards ceremony, an exclusive event for finalists, promises an evening filled with remarkable entertainment, celebrity guests, hosts, and live music performances. In the past, the event has featured famous names such as Duncan James (Blue), Jake Quickenden, Natasha Hamilton (Atomic Kitten), Aston Merrygold, and other talented hosts, artists, and influencers.
