'Serious crash' causes road closure and bus diversions between South Ockendon and Grays

A CRASH described as 'serious' by officers at the scene has caused the closure of Stifford Road at the Mardyke bridge this morning (Tuesday, 26 July).

Traffic, including buses, is being diverted and significant disruption and congestion in the area is expected. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called to Stifford Hill at around 4:30am this morning following reports of a collision involving two vehicles. The fire service were also in attendance and both drivers were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. 

"We remain on scene to assist with road closures whilst the vehicles are being recovered."
