TRAIN services between London and stations in Thurrock have been severely disrupted by a signalling fault and the c2c line could be closed for much of the day.

The rail operator has said: "Due to a fault with the signalling system between Dagenham Dock and Stanford-le-Hope the line via Grays is blocked.

"Train services running across the whole c2c network may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

"All lines are blocked and this is expected to continue until the end of the day.

"Due to the level of disruption expected until the end of the day we are advising customers not to travel unless absolutely necessary. Services may be delayed, altered or cancelled at short notice."

There are some limited services and bus replacements are running between Pitsea and Upminster via Ockendon.
