THURROCK appears to be one of a number of areas across the UK hit by a failure in the Sky broadband network.

Residents who use Sky across the borough have complained of internet failure while Sky and other programmes available on TV are not functioning.

Sky has confirmed outage problems and says is working on a fix. A statement says: "It's unclear what is causing the problems. We are aware of an issue affecting our Broadband customers.

"We are currently investigating this and will provide updates once we have more information to share. Customers may not be able to get online or make/receive calls."
