It's nearly here - and there will be so much to do at the 117th Orsett Show

THE clock is ticking down to one of the borough's most popular community events – the Orsett Show – which returns for its 117th edition on Saturday, 6 September.

The one-day event, steeped in tradition, promises a delightful experience for the whole family with traditional rural elements including livestock competitions, equestrian competition, high-octane main area shows, children's activities and plenty of food and drink to buy to take home or consume on the day.

There will also be a wide range of trade stands and exhibitions featuring local organisations including schools, hobbies and handicrafts groups and local service organisations.

All the fun will start when the gates at the Orsett Showground open at 9am.

Attractions in the main ring will include a lineup of captivating attractions sure to delight visitors of all ages.

Witness jaw-dropping stunts and adrenaline-fueled performances by the Squibb Freestyle motorcycle team, while the Bravo Equestrian Theatre Show showcases the elegance and agility of horses.

Marvel at the majestic Imperial Birds of Prey and Nick Gregory's Misselchalke Gundogs.

Youngsters will find plenty to do in the vibrant Kids Section featuring face painting, donkey rides, and a funfair.

Immerse yourself in the competitive spirit at the Orsett Show!

Explore a vibrant array of competitions across various genres.

Witness the dedication of farmers and agriculturalists showcasing their prize-winning livestock and bountiful produce.

In the horse and equine section, be captivated by skilled riders competing in dressage, showjumping, and other equestrian disciplines.

For those with a culinary flair, the pantry awaits, brimming with mouthwatering jams, chutneys, and delectable home-baked treats.

And don't miss the artistry on display at the expansive craft fair, where talented individuals compete for the best handmade creations.

This year also sees the opportunity for youngsters to take part in the Show's Fancy Dress competition.

It is open to all children up to 11 years old. The competition theme is 'Cartoon Characters'. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third places in each category. 

Costumes will be judged by the Orsett Show President, . To be entered each child must be present at 9.15am and be accompanied by an adult who has purchased a ticket to the show. Enter online via this link.
